Wentworth is where the Darling River meets the Murray River on their way to the Coorong south of Adelaide.
In Mildura we had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious Italian inspired meal at Stefano's Restaurant. We even got to meet Stefano himself.

A short drive west of Broken Hill is Silverton where silver minig began in 1882 and continued for almost 100 years. In more recent days it's moved from silver minig to the silver screen, hosting filming of such titles as Razorback, Mission Impossible II, Mad Max 2 and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. One of the cars from Mad Max II sits outside the famous Silverton Hotel. Again there were a surprising number of galleries in the town.
Just to the North of Broken Hill is the Living Desert State Park. A number of years ago a group of Sculptors from various countries around the world were invited to come and create sculptures on the hill overlooking this State Park using sandstone from here and nearby quarries. Some are almost raw stone, others are carefully moulded in some detail.
The roads were open in the morning so we headed off for Menindee lakes then on to Broken Hill.
Broken Hill has a large number of Art Galleries a couple of which we visited. The Regional Gallery had a number of exhibitions featuring local indigenous artists.
We arrived at Lake Mungo in the afternoon with dark clouds looming in the west. Unfortunately that meant rain overnight with roads too wet to drive down so the National Park was closed. We were able to go for a walk around the Lake foreshore the next morning but again there was rain the following night so on our last day there the roads hadstill not been opened. So we left without visiting the Walls of China or being taken into the closed area by an indigenous guide. Very disappointing!
