A short drive west of Broken Hill is Silverton where silver minig began in 1882 and continued for almost 100 years. In more recent days it's moved from silver minig to the silver screen, hosting filming of such titles as Razorback, Mission Impossible II, Mad Max 2 and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. One of the cars from Mad Max II sits outside the famous Silverton Hotel. Again there were a surprising number of galleries in the town.
