We're now in Prague. What a beautiful City! It appears to have remained intact for a thousand years - literally.
The architecture is magnificent. Buildings are adorned with patterns, plaster decorations, drawings, colourful designs. There's lots of symmetry in the building facades which I find pleasing.
The Old Town Square is the Tourist hub of the city.with a variety of buildings lining the Square. The standout building is the Astronomical clock installed in 1410 in the tower of the City Hall and still going strong. On the hour the clock presents a parade of the 12 Apostles. The figure of death strikes the hour, I guess as a warning that our time is drawing near.

The Old Town is connected to the Lesser Town by a bridge, begun by King Charles IV in 1357 and completed in the early 15th Century. At that stage it was the only crossing of the river so extremely important. It has an impressive tower on the old town side and two towers on the Lesser Town side. There are some 30 statues lining both sides of the bridge, mostly of Saints revered at the time.
The lesser town surrounds the castle which we will visit
tomorrow.
