Saturday June 22

Our last day in Ireland so a few last historic places. First the Hill of Tara, the ancient seat of power in Ireland and in ancient Irish religion and mythology the sacred dwelling place of the gods. This is similar to the Newgrange site except no archaeological work has been done on it. Then it was Bective Abbey built in the late 12th century but abandoned a few centuries later. Finally Trim Castle (not looking so trim these days before going on to our final hotel at the Twelfth Lock near Dublin airport. The 2 and a half weeks have flown by. We've done two or three thousand kms driving around the coast of Ireland and enjoying the beautiful scenery and the friendly people we've met.
