Tuesday June11th

Today we moved from Ardmore to Sneem via Cork and Blarney. Cork is a big city so we didn't hang around there. Instead we drove a few more kms to Blarney, not to kiss the stone but to visit the Blarney Woolen Mill and the Largest Irish Shop in the world! It  was large and Di did find a bargain, but it didn't do much for me. After lunch at the adjacent diner (also very large) we headed off for the Dromberg Stone Circle, one of a number of stone circles in Ireland, usually used as burial sites. This one was discovered to have at its centre an inverted pottery vessel containing the ashes of a youth dating back to 1001-800 BC. The final photo was taken as we followed our SATNAV through a labyrinth of less than minor roads. the better ones were numbered with an L which probably stands for Lane. the rest were not numbered at all - basically tracks with grass growing down the middle, and lets hope no-ones coming in the other direction!
