June 2 Passau Germany

 Passau is a small town just across the border from Austria and at the confluence of 3 rivers, the Danube, the Inn and the much smaller Liz. Above the town is a castle Veste Oberhaus which is now part museum and part Youth Hostel. There is a large Church of St Stephen which holds the largest organ in the world, except that it’s currently in Pittsburgh being repaired so we weren’t able to hear it being played at the lunchtime concert. Instead the two other organs in the church were played,

An Orphanage left in the will of a wealthy landowner, filled in 2015 by Syrian children, 
many of whom have now returned to Syria, or have become German citizens
